NATS Win in Mile High Slug Fest; Turner Hit-for-the-Cycle

After a rain delay, it was an action-packed game with Trea Turner (.289) hitting for the cycle, the NATS first since 2008 (see below).  He went 4-for-6 with 7 RBI.  Turner’s cycle:  single (1st), double (2nd), HR (6th), triple (7th).  The triple scored three (Wieters, Lind, Eaton); he had 10 total bases.  Daniel Murphy (.325) also had a triple, going 3-for-5 with 5 RBI.  Adam Eaton (.286-3 runs) and Bryce Harper (.400-2 runs) both had 2 hits, Ryan Zimmerman (.371-2 runs) went 1-for-4.

Starter Joe Ross (6.17) went 4.2 innings, giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits, 2 walks, 2 HRs; he struck out 2.  Enny Romero (6.00) replaced Ross, facing 5 batters (1 hit, no runs) and ended up with the win.  Koda Glover (4.15) and Joe Blanton (10.13) gave up 6 runs,  Matt Albers (0.00) put up zeroes in the 8th.  Shawn Kelley (5.00) closed things off in the 9th giving up the 12th run (4 batters – 13 pitches, 11 strikes.

NATS cycles:  Trea Turner is now the 3rd NATS cycler.  Brad Wilkerson (CF) hit the first in the second game of the 2005 season; he also hit a “natural cycle” as an Expo in 2003.  Christian Guzman (SS) was next with a cycle at NATS Park on Aug 20, 2008.
