HARPER BACK – OFF NIGHT FOR GIO – NATS DROP 1ST OF FOUR

Bryce Harper returned (.189) batting 3rd, and hit a solo HR in the 8th, and drove in 2 runs.  Former Oriole Matt Wieters (.273) (receiving a nice welcome home at Camden) went 1-for-4 with 1 RBI, and Michael Taylor (.228) drove in one as well.  Jayson Werth inched up to .300 BA, going 2-for-4 and scoring 1 run.  A late game rally was not enough for the NATS to make up the deficit.

Gio (2.64) had an off night (Game Score:  20), falling from his short-lived #1 position on the NL ERA leader list.  He gave up 3 HRs in the 1st, giving up 7 hits and 4 walks (2 strikeouts) and 6 runs in 6 innings (4 in the 1st, and 2 in the 4th).  Blake Treinen (8.59) pitched an uneventful 7th and Joe Blanton (9.75) gave up 3 hits but no runs in the 8th inning to close things off.

Next up:  Max Scherzer (4-2, 2.66 ERA/51 k) vs Ubaldo Jimenez (1-1, 6.58 ERA/18 K).
