ROSS STRUGGLES, TAYLOR SHOWS GREAT GLOVE WORK
SP Joe Ross (6.18) struggled with command of his slider, giving up 5 runs on 12 hits (including 1 HR) and 1 walk, striking out 4.  Ross faced 25 batters (85 pitchers, 61 strikes) and had 4 groundouts and 3 flyouts.

The bullpen came through without giving up another run.  Jacob Turner (4.01) pitched innings 5 and 6 (6 batters), Blake Treinen (6.85) innings 7 and 8 (7 batters) and Enny Romero (5.32) the 9th.

NATS 3 runs:  Adam Lind had 2 RBI, scoring Trea Turner in the 1st inning on a forceout and driving in Ryan Zimmerman in the 5th. eWilmer Difo (.182) and Brian Goodwin (250) both went 2-for-4; Difo scored on Goodwin’s single in the 2nd.

Taylor glove:  In the 6th inning with 1 out, Taylor raced over to make an amazing catch covering 79 feet on the play with an opportunity time of 4.4 seconds – “a five star grab.”  This after HRs on the previous two nights.

Next up:  Monday 4:05 PM the NATS @ SF GIANTS – Tanner Roark (4-2, 4.32 ERA, 50 K’S) vs. Matt Moore (2-5, 5.28 ERA, 49 K’s).
